A mother with passion

Few parents could do what Chris Hempel did: She discovered a possible treatment for her sick twins who had a rare genetic disease. She then battled a drug company and government bureaucrats to get the okay to use it. Here is her story.

Pluto not a planet

Just thought I’d mention this because it’s one of those things where literally you’re entire galaxy can change in the snap of a finger because someone decides it to be so and for all eternity it will now be. The “election” (yes, election) of Pluto not being a planet reminds me of Emperor Constantine at the Council of Nicaea where it was “decided” that Jesus would be the figurative Son of God or literal Son of God. Again, just like that, history was made and nobody knew about it.

I wish important things like the status of the divinity you pray to and the make up of the universe you live in would be something more people were notified about at least as much as they drown us with Octomom and John & Kate plus 8 updates.

Cramer Got Burned!

Msnbc sucks, No credibility. All these networks are in collusion to not bring light of our economic blunder to the public. It’s huge game that the corporations play called “Get Rich”  while the vast majority of the public “Dies Tryin’”.

John Stewart rightfully teared Cramer a new asshole.

World Data For Dummies

Hans Rosling knows how to make important data to our lives interesting and fun. There are many misconceptions about the growth of the world, what countries have great life spans, who has wealth who doesn’t. His site is haven for fun, free, important data.

The Bank Bonanza

It’s amazing how the banks are failing now-a-days. 60 minutes had a special on the failing banks and how quickly the FDIC comes in like a thief in the night to rescue these impotent institutions.

Citi Bank

What shocked me the most is how little the public knows about how the banking system works. The purposeful culturally driven cluelessness of where money comes from is astonishing. People once they heard their bank was closing formed lines outside with suitcases in hopes to withdraw thier funds. The FDIC placed a front man outside to inform people that a run on the bank was not necessary and their funds were safe, which it was.

Most people are oblivious to how the banking system works.  If they were informed, they would surely overthrough it. Most people never ask the questions. The just sit back and obey. That’s how we got in this financial mess to begin with.

I thought I’d end this with a banks we can all appreciate:

Tyra Banks

Rhonda Found A Dog

Today Rhonda Found a little chuihaha right before the big snow storm. He was a little rascal to catch. We brought him in the house and he was pissing and shitting on everything. He was able to clear jump over the doggy gate and onto the kitchen table. He’s like 2 pounds.

We’re gonna have to give him away soon but Rhonda doesn’t want to. I know it.

The Damn Bush people

Today this graced the headlines but was burried beneath Mily Sirus or whatever the her name is news:

“Top government officials illegally used a political litmus test when they considered adding a lawyer to the U.S. attorney’s office in Kansas City, a federal report released Monday says.”

Bush is so shameful it is saddening for all America. Monica Goodling, the wonder chic Bush found at a right wing christian law school (chritian law school? yes christian law school) used bias hiring practices to boot democrats and revitalize republicans in the justice department to help bush carry his tyranny of terror from horizon to horizon. Damn them all!

In addition, Ted Stevens, senator that is, got indicted on 7 counts of corruption for accepting money from oil companies. Corruption week must be on the cusp of initiating because everyone seems to be practicing for some big event. like who can win the race to prison.

Obama The Man

He wooed international crowds on a trip breeding universal unity like no other. He is unstoppable. Never in our history have we seen a presidential candidate embraced by the world the way Obama has been. Even the terrorists like him. What a guy!

Did I mention his books are awesome?

Crazy

Today the news had a story about a church in Texas who held a woman against her own will performing an exorcism on her for two days, beating her and other acts, was found innocent in the eyes of the Texas supreme court when the woman sued the church. The court sited it would be in violation of the churches first amendment rights.

This is insane. In the name of religion you can basically do anything. Where do you draw the line?

Societal Faultlines

Society seems to desire short term satisfaction without long term consideration. This instant gratification culture that has been nurtured by the media and corporations is a most dis-empowering state for us all to be in, black, white or otherwise.
