What now? Where is the public outrage? People must be too pacified to raise up against the establishment. This makes me very concerned about the future, leaning towards an outcome not in favor of justice and righteousness. Today is a most dark day in the history of morality and virtue.
Dick Gregory Strikes Again
Dick Gregory is a true champion. During his, what must have been 30 minute rant at the Black State of The Union Address he touched on some very profound topics.
I love the statement that he made saying that America has for fathers but no mother. No mother to teach it how to clean itself. America has dirty past and just because you put on a new suit but never cleanse yourself, it does not make it alright. America is the dirty man in the room with a brand new suit on asking everybody else “What’s that smell.”
It’s You America.
America fails to clean itself of its own historical dirt therefore it is impossible to call itself dignified at this time. Only when it addresses the moral injustices of slavery and its policies in regions of the world it has no right to impose its power on will it resemble the beautiful place we all know it can be.
Cornel on Hip Hop
Hip Hop has a progressive side lead by artist such as Common, Kanye, Talib, Lupe Fiasco and others as well as deeply regressive, misogynistic, hateful, materialistic, homophobic, concerned with instant gratification and hedonistic behavior aspect as well. Undeniably this is reflection of the American social landscape as a whole.
Hip Hop as a culture movement is a worldwide phenomenon of great power.
Hip Hop is a reflection of the genius of young black people, beginning in the belly of the American empire but generating new possibilities of hope, yearning for humane treatment at the same time reproducing some of the same systems of domination in their music in which they were resisting in the first place.
Bowling in the gutter
I can’t believe I bowled such a bad game. Wow. It was pretty horrible. Rhonda must think I’m atrocious. What’s actually worst than the horrible game I bowled is the emotional roller coaster I encountered after losing. A feeling of defeat that I have never felt before, that I can only compare to something I felt in 3rd grade when kids made fun of me, overwhelmed to the point of holding back a serious outburst. An outburst of tears, rage and I don’t even know what else.
I realize I have to come to grips somehow and regain emotional control of myself as lately I have not reacted to situations in my typical way. This is gonna take time.
Got Beef?
People aren’t aware that eating beef is not only bad for immediate personal, it is bad for the planets’ health. The amount of resources that are used to create beef, meaning the feed for the cows, the occupation of the farmland and so forth, have heavy negative consequences on the environment. Not to mention, that the biggest threat to our atmosphere is the methane gas produced from cows. They emit more pollution than all the automobiles in the world.
This is a post I made particularly in light of a conversation I had with Rhonda. She is probably the only person who is going to read this and whom I promised not to bug about eating meat, and I won’t, except for this. (Ok. We’ll see.)
Airlines Falling Apart
Southwest Airlines cozy relationship with the FAA is a true symbol democracy and capitalism at its most corrupt level. They are being regulated by themselves, which is no regulation at all, risking millions of lives in order to pad the bottom line and keep profits soaring. They are intent upon stopping you from bringing something on board the plane to blow it up, which is a huge felony and problem, but if the plane blows up on its own due to lack of maintenance and care, it’s nobody’s problem.
Jason Alexander told a story about his brother who is an airplane pilot who was pulled aside in a screening process to board an airplane he was about to fly for carrying an eyeglass screwdriver for his glasses. He replied to the security personnel “If I wanted to take down the plane, I wouldn’t need the screwdriver.” adding, “You know we have an ax in the cockpit.”
Just another story to show how truly stupid things have gotten in this country.
China and Summer 2008 Olympics. Sad Shit
Disturbing news that I found that no one has reported much on; China is making aproximately 1.25 million people in its country homeless to make way for the Summer 08 Olympics. They are bull dozing houses and buildings to create room for the games. Approximately 15000 people a month have been forceful evicted without a moments notice for the past several months. Families of 3 and 4 generations are literally being thrown into the street in a moments notice to make way for the profit generating venues the government is setting up to accommodate the visitors.
Now I think it’s bad enough that China is being reckless in their decision making process to value profit over people which is disgraceful, but the international community knows of this horror and hasn’t batted an eye as if to say they approve. That is sick. Thousands will die from homelessness alone in the country of the red sun and no human rights organizations are present and taking notice. Quite pathetic.
